ARTIST MANIFESTO
I believe there are too many beautiful cliches and not enough soulful exploration and wandering.
I believe the soul of a design comes from negative space – the letting go of intentional world building with which it is created, but with the attention with which it is prepared.
I believe good design must create a shock – the shock of the new, combined with the shock of the intimately familiar.
I believe that good design is impolite.
I believe good design can be quiet.
I believe the future of art/ theater costume lies in craftsmanship.
I believe the creative team works in sync to discover the right “scent”, pushing boundaries in our exploration, not limited to what we see and hear, even though our work is visual.
I believe in the community.
I believe in Alfred, Lord Tennyson’s view on life: “It is better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all.”
I believe Taiwan has made me this way, with a dose of impermanence and insights from Laozi and Zhuangzi.
I believe we should put away our internet tools and spend some time to smell the wildflowers around the world.
I believe that though our days of youth are brief, our days of whimsy are endless.
I believe that explanation limits art. So, when creating art, I want to forget this and have fun.
